Washburn X50 Profe review
X50 PROFE is a fixed bridge set-in neck guitar designed for rock & metal players. It's equipped with Buzz Feiten Tuning System, EMG pickups and Grover tuners. It's well balanced, it stays in tune, sounds decent and comes with a Washburn softcase.
Tuning stability 10/10
Grover 18-1 tuners, excellently cut nut, fixed bridge. Stays in tune perfectly. Intonation benefits from the Buzz Feiten Tuning System, chords sound better and more in tune, it's even easier to bend to right notes in solos.
Acoustic sound 8/10
Professional, tight and natural tone. Great sustain with an exception of one or two notes.
Electric sound 9/10
EMG pickups sound clean and sharp, do great job on rhytms. While playing leads I think X50 lacked smoothness and sweetness a bit IMO. I'm not used to EMG pickups, maybe it's also a matter of tweaking the tones.
Finish 10/10
Absolutely beautiful and flawless. Perfection to say the least. Everything is even, everything in the right place. The painting is flawless. This is an instrument to look at.
Neck 10/10
Ultra comfortable. It's not wide, it's not too thick, it offers great access to higher frets. Pleasant, easy to play.
Table 1 Washburn X50 Profe neck dimensions
Dimension | Value |
---|---|
Width at nut | 43mm |
Width at 24th fret | 56mm |
Thickness at 1st fret | 19.5mm |
Thickness at 12th fret | 21.5mm |
Fingerboard radius | 14" |
Features 9/10
It's got everything it should, the battery compartment is very convenient as it requires no unscrewing to replace the battery. The included gigbag protects the instrument well. Tone and volume knobs are too close to the switch so that's a minus one.
Balance 10/10
X50 is a well balanced and comfortable instrument.
Weight 7/10
It's not too light but it seems not heavy enough for mahogany. On the other hand it's quite compact.
Price 9/10
Price - around 500 euros new, given the hardware and finish quality it's great value for the money.
